How to Care for Anti-Tarnish Stainless Steel Jewellery

Anti-tarnish stainless steel jewellery is made for everyday life. It doesn't turn black or green like ordinary imitation jewellery, and you don't have to take it off every time your hands get wet. With a little care, the gold finish stays bright for much longer.

Can I wear it in water?

Yes. The stainless steel base doesn't rust or tarnish in water, so you can wear it while washing your hands, in the shower, or on a rainy day.

For swimming pools and the sea, it's fine to wear, but rinse it in fresh water afterwards. Chlorine and salt left on the surface can dull the gold finish over time.

What to avoid

The steel itself is very durable. The gold plating is the part to protect:

  • Perfume, body spray and hair spray: put these on first, let them dry, then wear your jewellery.
  • Strong chemicals: take jewellery off when using bleach, cleaning liquids or hair dye.
  • Rough scrubbing: don't clean it with toothpaste, steel wool or abrasive powders.
  • Heavy friction: rings and bracelets rub against desks, bags and phones every day. Take them off for gym workouts or heavy work.

How to clean it

  1. Rinse in lukewarm water with a drop of mild soap.
  2. Gently wipe with your fingers or a soft cloth.
  3. Rinse again and dry completely with a soft cloth.

That's all. No polishing creams needed.

How to store it

  • Keep each piece separately (a small pouch or a box with compartments) so pieces don't scratch each other and chains don't tangle.
  • Store in a dry place, not in the bathroom.
  • Fasten chains before storing to avoid knots.

How long does the finish last?

It depends on how often you wear a piece and how much it rubs against things. Necklaces and earrings usually keep their finish longest. Rings and bracelets, which touch surfaces all day, wear faster. Following the tips above makes a real difference.
